Can I Get Disability if I Use Marijuana? The answer to this is: it depends.…
Can I get SSD or SSI for a Traumatic Brain Injury?
If you have suffered a traumatic brain injury and find yourself unable to work a full-time job as a result, you may be entitled to Social Security Disability and/or Supplemental Security Income payments.
When someone suffers such an injury, Social Security will look to see how the injury affects the person’s ability to work, both physically and mentally. If your medical records support a finding that you cannot meet the physical and/or mental demands of full-time employment, you should be approved for SSD/SSI. This is especially true where a person’s traumatic brain injury causes such severe physical limitations that they are no longer able to stand up from a seated position, balance when standing or walking, or use their upper extremities or if the person has serious mental limitations as a result. Social Security will look to see whether the mental limitations cause deficits in a number of areas, including understanding, remembering, and applying information, interacting with others appropriately, concentrating, completing tasks effectively, and performing self-care tasks.
If you or someone close to you has suffered a traumatic brain injury, a Social Security Disability attorney can help you determine whether you have a good case. Please feel free to call the Social Security Disability attorneys at Smith & Godios Inc. to discuss your case and address any questions you may have about the process.
